Is it possible to damage my motorcycle's electrical system by jump-starting it with a car?
My battery was nearly dead. So, I jumped it with my car. While riding it, the gauges stopped working and the bike died a couple of times. Could I have done serious damage to the bike?
I have a 2007 Yamaha V-Star 1300 with no other mechanical or electrical failures.
No, you will not damage a motorcycle's electrical system by jump-starting it with a car.
The gauges stopped working and the engine died because the battery was dead.
Either the bike's charging system is not working properly, or it wasn't putting out enough voltage to charge the battery and keep the bike running at the same time.
