Spring Summer Golf Clothing
As the weather heats up and the skies stay blue, you'll need to spruce up your wardrobe and buy some Spring / Summer golf clothing to look sharp on the links. In spring, polo shirts can help you keep your cool, and you can layer sleeveless vests if things get nippy. Climacool fabric is ideal cross-season, perfect for adapting to the changeable British weather. Thin, flexible trousers are perfect for this kind of crossover garment, matched with long or short sleeve t-shirts. It's also good to have a low weight zip up jacket you can pull on over your outfit, in case of sudden rainstorms.
For summer golf, lightweight, tailored cotton is a staple of golf course fashion – polyester is (should be) banned. Crisp linen shorts are another great option, but beware the creases, and don't even think about cargo shorts. Chambray shorts for women are good too, but avoid denim, not least because it chafes. Mid length skirts from Adidas, crafted from high tech fabric, are an excellent option. Make sure not to go for maxi or mini, as practically is key. Green Lamb skorts are super lovely, as well as wonderful at protecting your modesty.
Any natural fabric will help you in spades, as they are already breathable, keeping you cool in hot weather and warm when the sun goes down. Remember colour too – lighter shades will help reflect heat, whilst darker hues will absorb UV rays and you could get quite uncomfortable. If you favour black, try a lighter charcoal grey and still look stylish without roasting yourself.
As the UV rays beat down, remember to douse yourself in sunscreen. I really like the spray formulas – less messy and easy to stick in a pocket of your golf bag. A baseball cap will help keep the glare out of your eyes so you can focus on the ball, and a neat pair of sunnies can help on really bright days.
