Which gym should I join NY Health and Racquet Club or Crunch?
They both seem like excellent gyms with great classes but i just don't know which one to choose.
I am a current member of Crunch and a former member of NYHRC. NYHRC is much more expensive. They have saunas and pools at all their locations and of course, racquetball courts. They also have a tennis facility you can use, but you have to pay extra for that. But I switched to Crunch (which is a LOT cheaper) because they have more classes (very diversified too), more convenient locations, and cus the Lafayette St. club has a big boxing area upstairs. If you travel to Miami, LA, SF, etc you can also use the clubs there too! Also at Crunch, when you renew your membership, the rate is suppose to decrease a little. Supposed to be a perk to keep you as a member. But you have to fight tooth and nail to get them to reduce the rate, as they always have some kind of story about why they cant do it. And, Crunchs members are mostly young, hip and really go there to work out. While at NYHRC, its mostly older business people, who go there to sweat for 15 minutes and hang out and look to talk to people for another 45 minutes. But what you should REALLY do is tell the salespeople at both Crunch and NYHRC that you want a guest pass (to try their club out for a week). Tell them you are conflicted about which club to join. They will gladly give it to you cus they want your business (as they all work on commissions). Then.... make your decision!
