Do you think accounting careers will hit a bottoming out like IT careers did after the dot com bust?
I'm considering accounting as a degree, but now with how popular it seems to be, I'm thinking about a business admin degree, or computer science. For some reason I think people are taking accounting as the easiest to attain of practical degree's, and I think it's going to hit a bubble point, and pretty soon we'll see accountants working at starbucks like the IT people did after the dot com bust.
I've not seen anything close to a glut of accountants yet. In public accounting, especially, many baby boomers are looking to retire shortly, and I know many who really have few options for internal candidates who can take over their business. Consistently, the shortage of potential employees is one of the major problems accounting firms face. I don't see you going wrong with accounting.
