TaylorMade Golf Driver: What specifications shaft Jap or USA?
I recently bgt a Taylormade R7 Draw driver. The model number is R7 Draw REAX 55R 10.5.
How do I know if the driver I bgt is a Jap spec or an American spec?
How do you measure the length of the shaft (which point to which point?)
The guy at the shop says its Jap specs but I suspect otherwise. I am small built and having a jap spec makes a whole lot of difference
Typically the flex on a Japanese driver is the biggest difference that you will find. Japanese drivers are usually built with a softer shaft than what you would expect for that flex. A Japanese flex shaft will not necessarily have a shorter shaft, many Japanese don't get out on a course very often and therefore spend much of their time at the range. They have a tendency to hit their drivers and are more interested in getting distance. If you want to know the length of your club you need to measure your club grounded to the end of the grip and subtract 3/16" and that will get you a ballpark to how long your club is. If you take it to a shop they will measure the pin length to which you would add 7/16" of an inch to get you the ground plane length.
