Fleece has similar characteristics to wool, except weighs much less. Fleece is made from polyester. It will not absorb water, break down in form, or absorb odors. As such, fleece keeps you warm and protected even when wet. Fleece is also light-weight and dries rapidly. And, since fleece is light-weight, you sweat less while containing the body's heat. Fleece is also very tough and can last for years
Modern fleece products have anti-pill qualities and are made with a wide range of qualities. These include a variety of weights, including "summer" weights, colors, stretch, and water & wind resistant.
Care of your Fleece
As fleece is made of polyester it is heat sensitive. Hot dryers, steam, and irons ought to be avoided to reduce pilling. Pressing the fleece with the fingers generally does the job. Nevertheless...if you have to iron your fleece, you should first test the iron on a piece of scrap fleece. You must also be sure that your iron is set on a low temperature and as added safeguard for your fleece, use a cloth between the fleece and the iron.
When washing, you can use a washing machine No problems here...Don't worry, hand washing is elective, but occasionally easier when just washing one item...BUT you do have to use cool to lukewarm water. And, never use bleach or fabric softeners (in the washer or dryer). It is also best to wash individually or at least not with other items that creates a lot of lint.

Fleece is a soft, lightweight, warm and comfortable fabric. There are disadvantages to this fabric as well. If not treated with a flame retardant, fleece is highly flammable, in contrast to wool, which is relatively nonflammable Non-recycled fleece is made from non-renewable petroleum derivatives. Regular fleece is not windproof, and does not absorb moisture. Fleece also generates a high amount of static electricity, which cause of lint, dust, and pet hair. Remember it does not tolerate high temperatures. Lower-quality fleece material is also prone to pilling
