how can I set off a scratch built model rocket?
I am building a rocket from posterboard and balsa wood and don't know how to ignite the engine I am going to buy. <(-_-)>
There are a variety of igniters for model rocket engines depending on how fancy you want to be about it.
Low tech cheap options work just fine though. Follow link below for some examples.

That is a VERY bad idea! Do not do it! Rocket engines ignite fast and very hot. This would be an excellent way to burn yourself badly.
Get a proper model rocket ignition system. They can be had for a few dollars.
