Pants cut with a high waist line aren't suitable for most body types, which could be a reason why they're not available much these days. Try to choose pants that sit a bit lower down on the hips. These can help lengthen the look of your torso. See if you can find pants that sit just below your waist line. There's also the risk of giving yourself a 'muffin top' appearance if you get pants that are too low cut down your hips.
To make sure you get the perfect fit and style that suits you best, you could look into having some pieces tailor made. This is a great way to create a wardrobe for more formal pieces that can be more difficult to find off the rack in stores. In the long run, getting clothing tailor made can become more affordable than buying off the rack items that might be lower quality. Clothing from retail stores can tend to wear out very quickly, while tailor made clothing will endure for longer, meaning you're buying clothes less often.
