Anyone with a Dodge/ Chrysler Intrepid, when do the Timing Belts generally snap on them?
I know you wanna have em done around 90-100thousand k
and do the water pump while your in there.
You see many intrepids without engines for sale.
We just bought one off my cousin with 82thousand on it in TOTALLY MINT SHAPE. im gonna get the belt done soon.
I JUST WANT TO KNOW ANYONE WHOS OWENED ONE WHEN DID THE BELT SNAP OR WHEN THEY GENERALLY GO?
it dpends on what engine you have. if you have an old body style car with a 3.3, it doesn't have a belt, its a chain. they don't break or jump, they just get noisy. if you have a 3.2 or 3.5, you should replace it. 70-80000 miles is a good time, and yes the water pump at the same time is a great idea. save the extra labor and get it done now. plus a leaking water pump will destroy your timing belt anyway. i won't even open the discussion on 2.7 timing chains. painful to think about.
