can ping but no internet?
on my laptop i can ping but when i try going to anywhere on internet it says internet explorer cannot display the webpage.
Internet Explorer? Check your proxy setting and change it back to Automatically detect settings (Tools/ Internet Options / Connections / LAN Settings).
You can also try renewing your IP address (Start / Run, type "cmd" hit enter, then type "ipconfig /release" hit enter, type "ipconfig /renew" and hit enter). Rebooting should renew your IP address automatically in Windows XP.
