Will a dent in my driver affect its performance?
My friend banked a ball off the heel of my new driver. The club is a new Jack Nicklaus 1 wood. Titanium I think. The dent is about the size of my thumb located about a 1/4 inch under where the shaft connects to the club head. I hit it several times after the 'accident' and there did not seem to be an distinguishable differences in its performance. My shots were actually straighter. Is there any information available out there on dents on club heads?
Yes it will have an effect. If the dent is on the face it will greatly affect the ball flight and negatively affect the clubs performance.
If the dent is not on the face but on the heel it should have little effect on the performance. The dent could make the club illegal for tournament play.
