Are graphite shafts bad for irons? ?
I'm in the process of buying a new set of clubs and am looking into graphite shafts for my irons (5-PW). I understand the advantages and disadvantages involved in a flexible shaft for irons however, wonder if using graphite on the fairway will decrease the life of my clubs because of bending. I know modern drivers are mostly graphite shafted and do not typically bend however, drivers are not subject to the rough terrain that irons are. Any thoughts?
I use a graphite shafts and they certainly seem to get more distance than steel shafts but just to reassure you, graphite is 14 times stronger gram for gram than steel so its the steel users who may be going to their wallet a bit more often!
