Has anyone used one of the skycaddie GPS's? What do you think of them?
If you have the money, I'd say add it to your bag.
I've used it about 4 or 5 times now along with a range finder. The biggest plus to me is knowing the size of the green in front and behind the flag.
Problem is, you need a range finder to get the yardage of the flag to figure it out.
Last time out I decided to use nothing. I used sprinkler heads markers and estimated as best I could the distance of the flag. Less techy, and more golf - and it was nice to play that way.
But it gave me a good idea of what I would rather use - range finder or gps and I would rather use a GPS to know edge of water, bunkers and greens.
Knowing the center of the green and adjusting based on flag position isn't as hard as I thought. Knowing I have space behind the flag because the greenside bunker makes it too risky to go for a shot with a red flag is more important than exact distance for me.
I can survive on either GPS or Rangefinder OR even sprinkler heads. If I had to choose... GPS for me!
