What kind of wires can you splice with lace sensor pickups?
I have a lace sensor gold pickup but the wires are too short to reach from the neck position to the volume knob and 5 way switch. I'm new when it comes to this kind of stuff so i'm wanting to know which wires can I splice to extend the wires? The grounds are green and white and the hot wire is orange. thanks.
Hi, Zack! With the short runs inside a guitar cavity, the gauge of wire is less significant than in other electronic applications. I would suggest using a readily-available 22 AWG stranded wire, as it will be easier to connect to the very thin pickup connection wires. Don't worry too much about matching the colors, as long as you are careful when making the terminations to the switches and potentiometers. Twist the ends together as shown at http://www.mmxpress.com/technical/connections.htm (butt joint method), solder, and finish up by wrapping with electrical tape (alternatively, you could use shrink wrap). Easy process, really! Best regards, Dana
