How come my tee shots slice right sooo much?
I own a Taylormade 580 and I am doing everything to fix this problem. I've changed my stance, flex of my knees, grip, where I'm lined up with the ball and nothing is helping. What could be causing this problem?
I know I am keeping my head down. I think it probally is my club speed. This is my firs time askin a question how do you select a best answer?
I have a answered Mr. Smith in an earlier question. For your benefit I repost here again my answer.
We all have the tendency to try to make tee shots go further and hence the anxiety to turn our body faster when we hot tee shots. Try slowing down your body turn and focus on faster downswing. Else these are the other remedies:
1. Get a draw biased driver, if you slice very hard then get clubs with offset. If your slice is like a fade then get draw biased clubs. Cobra is a good club brand that carries offset and draw biased clubs that help slicer. The M Speed series has enough offset to turn slice straight, the F Speed has draw biased to help the fade straight.
2. Close the club face - that doesn't mean you turn your wrists at address. Many golfer turn the wrists to close the club face which is incorrect since they have not remedied the open club face since the srist will be back to the natural phase during the down swing. You need to turn the grip at address to make the club in a slightly closed manner.
3. Offset your address - aim to the left but this is not the best solution since you will draw if you get a good hit.
4. Inside-out down swing - this takes a lot of swing practice to have a inside-out approach on the down swing so you do not over swing to create a slice. Inside-out means the club is coming down from the inside of the down swing and proceed to square with the ball at impact.
5. Firm lower torso - do not over turn during your down swing. Many recreation golfer thinking fast hip turn equals faster impact and longer distance especially with the driver, but this creates a slice upon impact if the hands are not as fast with the hip. I strongly suggest practice with down swing first then turn your hip with your driver. After a few shots if you start to draw then coordinate your hip roll speed.
