VW Passat 1.9 Various Faults?
Hi All
Car went into garage today, re the noses etc, it really was not good news. I had to get the following done (in fact still not got car back yet) and so far its cost me £800!
Alternator Pulley
Engine Mounts, leaking fluid badly apparently
Front and rear brake pads and discs
as above its cost £800 so far which sounds a lot, and its not a dealer, its a local garage. The clutch and drive shaft are fine.
Anyone had these probs before, and anyone view on the cost, does it sound right? I have onl ubeen charged 5 hrs labour for all the work, and its been in 2 days with tomororw, so sounds OK - its just the parts that are dear.

i am sorry steve,i have been in the trade for 46 years so i know what i am talking about,if you buy makers parts you pay top money,however buy the same parts made at the same factory but
UN BADGED and you will pay 15 pounds each for discs,pulley 12 pounds,pads 9 pounds a side,so labor at 40 an hr is 200 pounds so all together that lot is 261,so they are saying 539 for two engine mounts and a fluid leak,i don't think so steve,theirs some thing not right there,ask to see the receipts
