Kenmore (Calypso) Wash Motion Washing Machine question?
My wife and I purchased the above posed questioned machine in 2004, now here 2007 I have the sad heart of a washing machine owner that has NO washer. My question is that when the machine operates it will drain properly like it should, but when it comes to the spin cycle the motor sounds like it's laboring, so I pulled it from the wall and opened the bottom, and disassembled the center drive shaft which pulls the belt off, like a serpenitne belt on a car, I thought at first the brake was inoperative, but no this works only when the motor engages the pawl to pull the brake away from the drum to allow it to spin, so I then pulled the drive motor out and ohmed the windings in which the colors are Yellow/White/Red/Black when ohming, these are the readings I get: meter set to 200 ohms Wht to Blk = 3.18 ohm, yel to red = 6.12 ohms, blk to red 3.23 ohms, blk to yel = 3.18 ohms, if I did these backwards it would almost be the same, is this motor good, or is it bad. I would appeciate any help.
I suspect the motor is fine. Check the gray gasket around the nutate plate. If the gasket is not snug around the tub the u joint is bad. There are probably some clothes wrapped around the hub. The Calypso is not DIY friendly. Call for service and purchase a Service Smart agreement . It will be offered when you call for service. As you know it's not anything like your old washer. All new technoligy.
