Extra Stiff vs. Stiff shaft?
I went to a golf shop yesterday and hit some balls on their simulator/launch monitor. I had an average swing speed of 115.8 mph and a high swing speed of 126.5 mph. And just as I see on the course, on the simulator the ball would fly off the face of the club, go high then just die and seem to drop out of the sky. The launch angle was usually 17 degrees. I am currently hitting a Cleveland Hibore XLS with a 10.5 loft with a Saishin 65 gram stiff flex shaft. The owner of the store told me to come back tomorrow and he would try to fit me with a driver that would fit me. He recommended an extra stiff shaft with possibly an 8.5 degree face. I thought that is just what the tour pros use and was kind of skeptical so I just wanted to get a second opinion.
I'm not a clubfitter, but judging from your swing speed alone you would need a extra stiff shaft. As far as the loft, that is what you're getting fitted for. You can go to the golfchannel.com and look at the equipment of tour pros who won recent tournaments and see what they use.
